What an account manager résumé has to show
- Book size: number of accounts and total revenue under management
- Gross and net retention, or churn rate
- Expansion or upsell revenue you closed
- Named accounts by industry and size, without breaching confidentiality
Bullets you can adapt
Every one names a system or a surface, a change, and a number. Take the shape, not the figures — substitute your own and keep them defensible.
- Managed a book of 46 accounts worth €5.2m in annual recurring revenue with 94% gross retention
- Closed €880k of expansion revenue in one year, taking net revenue retention to 112%
- Renegotiated 19 contracts at renewal and lifted average annual value by 14% without losing an account
- Ran quarterly business reviews for the top 12 accounts, all of which renewed on multi-year terms
- Cut churn in the mid-market segment from 17% to 9% by adding a day-30 and day-90 health check
- Recovered 3 at-risk accounts worth €640k combined by rebuilding the onboarding plan with their operations leads
- Reduced average escalation resolution time from 11 days to 4 by agreeing a joint tracker with support
And the ones to cut
These are duties and adjectives. They describe a job title, not a person doing it.
- Responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Acted as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients
- Customer-focused professional with excellent interpersonal skills

Account Manager résumé questions
Do I include client names?
Only if they are public references or the logo is already on your employer's website. Otherwise describe them by industry and size, such as a €400m logistics group. Naming an account under NDA is the fastest way to worry a hiring manager about how you would treat their data.
How is an account manager CV different from a sales CV?
Sales is judged on new logos, account management on retention and expansion. Lead with net revenue retention and renewal rate, and keep new business further down unless the role explicitly hunts. Mixing the two without labelling makes both numbers look inflated.
What if my accounts churned for reasons outside my control?
Write the segment retention rate and note the structural reason briefly, for example a product sunset. Recruiters have seen entire books collapse for pricing decisions no account manager could influence, and an honest one-clause explanation reads better than a missing number.
