What an operations manager résumé has to show
- Headcount managed, direct and indirect
- Throughput or volume: units, orders, tickets, shifts per week
- A cost per unit or budget figure you owned
- Service level or quality metric with a before and after
Bullets you can adapt
Every one names a system or a surface, a change, and a number. Take the shape, not the figures — substitute your own and keep them defensible.
- Led 64 staff across 3 shifts and lifted on-time dispatch from 91% to 98.6% within two quarters
- Owned a €7.8m operating budget and held spend 3% under plan for two consecutive years
- Reduced cost per order from €4.60 to €3.35 by rebalancing pick paths and renegotiating the courier contract
- Cut staff turnover from 38% to 19% by moving to fixed rota patterns published four weeks ahead
- Ran a lean programme with 11 kaizen events that removed 2,400 labour hours a year from packing
- Brought recordable safety incidents down from 14 to 3 a year after redesigning the loading bay flow
- Scaled the site through a peak of 42,000 orders in one week with no increase in permanent headcount
And the ones to cut
These are duties and adjectives. They describe a job title, not a person doing it.
- Responsible for the day-to-day running of the operation
- Managed a team and ensured targets were met
- Hands-on leader with strong organisational skills

Operations Manager résumé questions
How much detail about headcount should I give?
Give both numbers: direct reports and total site headcount. Managing 6 supervisors who lead 64 staff is a different job from managing 64 people directly, and operations directors read that distinction immediately. Vague team leadership language loses you the senior shortlist.
Does industry experience matter for operations roles?
It matters more than most candidates expect, because volume, regulation and shift patterns differ sharply between warehousing, manufacturing and services. If you are switching sector, translate your metrics into the target sector's vocabulary and show one transferable improvement in full detail.
Should I mention lean or Six Sigma certification?
List the belt level and one project it produced. A green belt with a documented €180k saving is credible, a belt with no project attached reads as a training course. Put the certification under education, and the project in the work history where it happened.
